The first drug for erectile dysfunction, called Cialis, will be available for $10 per pill. That’s enough to get a doctor to prescribe it, according to the US health department.
“We have a very good relationship,” Dr. John Smith, chief executive of the pharmaceutical group Pfizer, told me. “It’s not a joke.”
In a recent interview with me, Smith said he’s not sure why Viagra is the first drug launched in the US. He said that the US government is considering the sale of a generic version of it.
Viagra is a brand-name version of the drug Cialis.
Viagra is a form of the erectile dysfunction drug called sildenafil. It’s taken by men who are already taking the drug, but it can cause serious side effects.
